library books...

We've been reading a lot of books around here and I'm not sure if the books here are different or if they're similar to ones back home and Brooks was just too young so we never got to these before we moved.  Either way, these are crazy.  This first book is about a young dog who doesn't want to visit his grandpa...

This part isn't too bad...then the mom says that the grandpa is kind...

I particularly enjoy the dentures flying out of his mouth...

Nothing like making cracks about sending grandparents to a home...

Next we have a book about three evil brothers who try to kill a whale so they can take all of the fish out of the ocean.  They think the whale is dead, but she's not.  She comes after their boat and proceeds to kill all of them so the ocean stays safe.

If the content wasn't enough, these pictures provide a great visual.

And now for the sweetest book, Harry and Hopper...

There's nothing better than a book about a boy and his dog...

until I get to this part and realize what's going on...

I tried to stop reading at this point but Brooks wasn't
having it; he wanted to know where Hopper was...

I mean good grief...so much for beating around the bush.

And killing the dog off wasn't enough?  You have to ask
the kid if he wants to see the dog before he's buried?

I don't know how many times I was asked, "What happened to Hopper?"  "Why did Hopper die?"  I guess I need to start doing a better job screening our books before leaving the library.
